We have an opening within our Purchasing Department for a Buyer. This position reports to the Materials Manager. This role will ensure the timely delivery of high-quality products into the Conn-Selmer plants while working with the Corporate Procurement team, Materials Manager, QC and the Sales Group to determine the needs of each production facility. This position will reside within a reasonable commuting distance from our Monroe, NC Facility.
Responsibilities
Review reorder reports weekly.
Order placement.
Expediting of shipments.
Maximization of the economics’ related to shipping and containerization.
Invoice accuracy verification.
Manage data base with respect to part numbers purchased.
Work with product management and procurement staff to help ensure new product launch is successful.
Determine and identify economic opportunities and develop/execute plans to implement the opportunities.
Manage day to day relationships with assigned suppliers.
Resolve supplier issues involving invoicing, payment, delivery, quality and service.
Monitor receiving department to assure accurate reporting of materials.
Work with the quality department on the corrective action process on non-conforming material.
Negotiation, planning and projection of all sourcing and resourcing product need.
Maintain a weekly updated expedition list.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
BA or 3+ years of purchasing equivalent.
Experience with managing offshore suppliers.
Excellent communication and computer skills – Excel, Word, Access.
Good understanding of MRP.
Experience with the MAPIC/Infor programs. (Not required but helpful.)
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel. (approx. 20%)
Some light lifting.
Requires long periods of sedentary work.
